A Note From Our CEO: Two Questions We Hear All the Time

By Lorenze Tremonti, Co-Founder, CEO & Master Distiller, Broadstreet Infamous

There are two questions I am asked more than almost anything else:

“When are you building the distillery?”
“Where are you distilling now?”

So, rather than answer them one conversation at a time, I thought it was time to address them here.

Broadstreet Infamous owns the property at 208 East Broadstreet in downtown Greensboro, Georgia, and our intention has always been for that property to become our distillery, headquarters and home base in the heart of Lake Country.

That goal has not changed.

We acquired the property with that vision in mind, subsequently secured the necessary local zoning, and completed our federal licensing requirements to operate as a distillery, alcohol beverage manufacturer, supplier, and brokerage.

What has changed is the path we are taking to get there.

When we reached the point where we had to choose between building the physical facility first or building the business first, we chose to build the business.

That decision allowed us to establish our brand, develop our products, create our sales and distribution infrastructure, get Broadstreet Infamous onto store shelves, and—most importantly—prove that people wanted to buy what we were making.

Today, our bourbon is produced off-site with a trusted production partner while we continue working toward bringing production home to Greensboro. This type of arrangement is also a common starting point for emerging bourbon brands as they establish their businesses and work toward their own production facilities.

That is not the final destination. It is the strategy that has allowed us to keep moving forward.

So, When Are We Building?

The honest answer is: we are working toward it, but we are not announcing a construction date.

A project of this scale involves considerably more than putting up a building. It requires planning, engineering, permitting, regulatory approvals, infrastructure, equipment, staffing, capital and a sustainable operating model.

We want to build our headquarters when the conditions are right for Broadstreet Infamous—not simply because there is pressure to put a date on a calendar.

Every bottle sold, every new account opened, every event, every tasting, every meeting and every mile traveled is part of building the company that will ultimately support that facility.

We have made significant progress, and we continue to execute against that objective.

Our headquarters in downtown Greensboro remains the goal.

We are building the company first so that, when we build the facility, we can build it for the company we have become—not simply the company we were when we started.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our Lake Country community and across Georgia, where Broadstreet Infamous is based and where I have proudly called home for more than 20 years.

We have a plan. We are executing it. And we believe the best things are worth building the right way.
