From the Barrel to the Bar: Bourbon-First Cocktails

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Wheater’s Select Bourbon
  • 8–10 mint leaves
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Crushed ice
  • Optional: Watermelon juice
Garnish:
  • Mint sprig
  • Small watermelon wedge or ribbon
Recipe:
  • In a shaker, combine bourbon, fresh watermelon juice or purée, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Shake well and strain over crushed ice in a julep cup.
  • Top with additional crushed ice to mound over the top.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and a small piece of watermelon.

Watermelon Crush

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Legacy Series Bourbon
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 2–3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Orange peel
Garnish:
  • Orange twist
  • Maraschino cherry (on a cocktail pick)
Recipe:
  • In a mixing glass, add sugar cube (or ½ tsp simple syrup) and 2–3 dashes of Angostura bitters.
  • Muddle until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add bourbon and fill the glass with ice.
  • Stir until well-chilled.
  • Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
  • Garnish with an orange twist and a cherry.

classic old fashioned

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Legacy Series Bourbon
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz fruity red wine, such as Zinfandel or Gamay
  • 1 strip lemon zest
Garnish:
  • None (traditionally un-garnished, but optional lemon twist or cherry can be added)
Recipe:
  • In a shaker, combine bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  • Add ice and shake well.
  • Strain into a rocks or coupe glass (neat or over ice).
  • Gently float red wine (dry, like a Shiraz or Malbec) over the back of a spoon to create a layered effect.

New York Sour

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Speakeasy Preferred Bourbon
  • 2 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
Garnish:
  • Grapefruit wedge
Recipe:
  • In a shaker, combine bourbon, fresh grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Add ice and shake briefly.
  • Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
  • Top with club soda (or grapefruit soda for a sweeter version).
  • Garnish with a grapefruit wedge.

Bourbon Paloma

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Wheater’s Select Bourbon
  • 4 blackberries
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
Garnish:
  • Fresh blackberries
  • Lemon wheel or wedge (optional)
  • Paper straw (for a summery touch)
Recipe:
  • In a shaker, muddle a few blackberries with lemon juice and simple syrup.
  • Add bourbon and ice, then shake well.
  • Strain into a tall glass filled with ice.
  • Top with a splash of club soda or water (optional, for balance).
  • Garnish with whole blackberries and a straw.

Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Speakeasy Preferred Bourbon
  • 1 oz peach purée or peach schnapps
  • 4 oz chilled sweet tea
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice
Garnish:
  • Mint sprig
  • Peach slice
Recipe:
  • In a shaker or glass, combine bourbon and sweet tea.
  • Add a splash of fresh lemon juice for brightness (optional).
  • Stir gently and pour over ice in a mason jar or highball glass.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig.

Peach Bourbon sweet tea

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Wheater’s Select Bourbon
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes chocolate bitters
  • Optional: 1 bar spoon crème de cacao
Garnish:
  • Luxardo cherry or brandied cherry
  • Optional: Shaved dark chocolate or a chocolate-dipped rim for flair
Recipe:
  • Add bourbon, sweet vermouth, chocolate bitters, and crème de cacao (if using) into a mixing glass with ice.
  • Stir well for 20–30 seconds until chilled and properly diluted.
  • Strain into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass.
  • Garnish with a Luxardo cherry on a pick, and/or add shaved chocolate on top or a rimmed edge for extra wow factor.

Chocolate Manhattan

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Broadstreet Infamous Legacy Series Bourbon
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Club soda (to top)
Garnish:
  • Lemon wheel
  • Maraschino cherry
Recipe:
  • Add bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake well and strain into a Collins glass filled with ice.
  • Top with club soda.
  • Garnish with a lemon wheel and cherry.
